Expert review of Conrad Centennial Singapore
A luxury business hotel filled with wide collection of Chinese art.
The Conrad Centennial is a 31 storey, luxury business hotel, conveniently located in the heart of Singapore's largest integrated commercial and entertainment development, The Marina Centre. There are 507 guest rooms, with 96 sets of connecting rooms (great for families) as well as 25 suites.
Location:
The Conrad hotel is located in the Marina Bay area, right next door to the Suntec Convention and Exhibition Centre. The hotel also has direct access via tunnels and covered walkways to over 1,000 shops and over 300 restaurants. The Esplanade, Promenade and City Hall MRT stations are within walking distance.
Bedrooms:
The standard rooms are quite a decent size and come with a desk. The décor is fairly non-descript, but the beds are very comfortable. There’s also dedicated business and executive floors with executive lounge benefits. All rooms come with a complimentary fruit bowl as well as the Conrad signature rubber ducky and teddy bear. Soft toys like this aren’t really my thing, but I guess it’s a good souvenir to take home for the kids.

Public areas:
The scent of jasmine fills the spacious lobby and a live jazz band can be heard here of an evening. There’s also a wide collection of Asian art on display – over 3,000 original works hanging on the walls in public areas, food and beverage outlets as well as guestrooms. There are 17 function rooms, including a grand ballroom, three boardrooms and four conference rooms.
Eating and drinking:
The Golden Peony is fine dining Cantonese restaurant, very popular for business lunches. Oscars serves a mix of Asian and international cuisine and is the only hotel restaurant in Singapore that’s open 24 hours.
Leisure facilities:
You can see the Singapore Flyer from the sunbeds by the pool. Spa facilities and treatments are available. The gym is equipped with state of the art machines and is open 24 hours.
Service:
The staff were friendly, check-in was efficient and the attendants by the pool were attentive, but not intrusive.

This hotel bills itself as six stars, so rates aren’t cheap. But if you are a business traveller on a corporate expense account, you cannot go wrong. Corporate rates are negotiable. But if you're not on a corporate rate, WiFi charges are $29.96 for a day, $73.83 for 3 days and if you're staying a week, that'll be $149.80.
