Expert review of Las Casas de la Juderia
Romantic charm and elegance in the centre of Seville.
I've been in love with this place for years, long before it expanded to contain 27 historic houses connected by passages and courtyards, and still had a charming entrance down a tiny alley off Santa Maria la Blanca (where I once saw Jean Paul Gautier). The entrance is now on the main road and looks much more properly “hotelish”, and the entire complex is a Byzantine labyrinth of tunnels, patios, courtyards and tiny nooks that you can easily get lost in.
Location:
Aside from being a nightmare for anyone trying to arrive by their own car (no problem with a taxi) this is a really great location because you are on the edge of the Barrio Santa Cruz and just about ten minutes from both the main sights and shopping areas. Fabulous tapas bars are just a stone's throw from your hotel room.
Bedrooms:
You can choose between doubles, superior doubles and junior suites. Because of the various houses, each one with its own character, the rooms all have their own individual style and décor. Many with balconies, wood-beamed ceilings, antique furniture...there aren't any two alike.

Public areas:
Aside from the rooftop swimming pool (open only during the summer) there are almost as many public areas here as private rooms, with lots of courtyards – many with fountains and plenty of greenery – as well as patios and lounge areas. Free WiFi is available in the downstairs public areas near reception.
Eating and drinking:
The brand new Emporión restaurant – two floors and two private dining rooms – near the main entrance, is also open to the public, though I have yet to try it out.
Leisure facilities:
The spa with its Roman theme includes a sauna and jacuzzi – check with reception for the price list.
Service:
I find the English-speaking reception staff to be very friendly and helpful.

Who stays there:
Well for one – Jean Paul Gautier. So probably celebs and anyone who enjoys private and comfortable luxury.
Price advice:
Buffet breakfast is 19 euros. Limited parking for 19 euros.
