Expert review of ClubHotel Riu Paraiso Lanzarote Resort
I think this is a beautiful hotel inside and out – the low-rise white buildings overlooking the ocean have immaculate rooms and are surrounded by impressive grounds. Many guests rightly go for the great-value all inclusive, which includes good buffet breakfasts, lunch and dinner, with snacks and unlimited local drinks (both alcoholic and non alcoholic).
This Riu hotel is perfectly located right on the beach of Playa de los Pocillos, 2kms from the resort of Playa del Carmen.
Some of the rooms seem a little compact but all have decent furnishings in pleasant, muted shades. Choose from double rooms (some suite) and good-sized family rooms (1 or 2 bedrooms with living room and sofa bed). All rooms come fully equipped with fridges and satellite TV and a balcony or terrace. Avoid those near the nightclub which inevitably can be noisy.

There is something for everyone here: four large swimming pools, gym, beauty centre and even a hairdressers. Little ones can enjoy themselves in the kids’ club, or in the children’s playground. Note that smoking is allowed throughout the public areas of the hotel.
Choose from three restaurants, serving a good mix of Canarian, Mexican or Asian cuisine, the last of which is deservedly popular so make sure to book in advance. Once a week is a fun, themed buffet. There is also a bar and two poolside snack bars, but pre-mixed cocktails really shouldn’t be allowed - it sent my husband into a fury!
I had a good game or two on the table tennis tables – there are also volleyball and tennis courts for the more energetic. Day and evening entertainment includes shows (although don't expect anything too sophisticated) and a nightclub.
This hotel always seems to be full, which may be the reason why the staff – both on reception and in the restaurants – seem to be on a very short fuse. On more than one occasion, I have been barked at by the front desk after having to wait in line for a long time.

During high season, it is mostly families with children of all ages from Spain, Britain and Germany, with a high number of repeat customers. Out of the main summer months, the hotel tends to attract older visitors without children.
All-inclusive deals are very good value. The charge for internet use is unnecessarily high and is made even for those guests on so called 'all-inclusive' deals.

I visited last January with my mum and two young children and am returning there in 2 weeks so would definately recommend it.
I agree with a lot of the comments above apart from the staff. They made the holiday for us, we found that they just wanted to do everything for everyone and were more than willing to go out of their way to do this. Whilst we were there my daughter needed urgent medical care and I became ill through no fault of the hotel, but because of the wonderful way the staff looked after us we still had a fabulous holiday and can't wait to return.
