Expert review of Hôtel Michelet Odéon
Located in an 18th-century building on one of Paris's most beautiful squares, this longstanding budget address was successfully brought up to a date a couple of years ago in a sophisticated contemporary style, yet has kept its prices remarkably low for one of Paris's most elegant districts.
A great location on the beautiful square overlooking the historic Odéon theatre, perfectly placed for the Jardins du Luxembourg and St-Germain.
The bedrooms have been redecorated with a sense of style that lifts them out of the budget norm, with accent walls, natural wood bedheads and furniture and pristine new bathroms. Ask for a room at the front, with tall windows overlooking the square. Two family suites with two bedrooms and a bathroom are good if travelling with children.
Giant blown-up photos of flowers decorate the breakfast room and staircase, and there's also a compact lift.
Breakfast served in a pleasant ground-floor room.
This is a budget hotel so don't expect too much in services, but staff are welcoming and helpful, with 24-hour reception, not always the case in two stars.
All ages, all nationalities.
Breakfast costs 12 euros.
