A characterful budget hotel with a great Marais location.
A gaudy, Gaudi-esque art nouveau mirror in the breakfast room sets the tone at this quirky budget hotel, which is being redecorated yet has kept its character. Although facilities are simple, staff are friendly and the atmosphere relaxed.
Location:
A good Marais location on a quiet street behind a small café-lined square, well placed for Marais shops or relaxing in the Place des Vosges.
Bedrooms:
What really makes this place stand out from most inexpensive hotels in Paris is the size of its rooms. Even standard doubles are reasonable, while the larger rooms that sleep three or four are ideal for families. Ask for one of the renovated rooms, rejuvenated with taffeta curtains, colour-washed walls, painted furniture and sophisticated new bathrooms. The others remain traditionally floral with mildly psychedelic bathroom tiles.

Everything has a homely feel here with knick-knacks, souvenirs and eclectic paintings scattered around. The staircase is decidedly wonky but there is also a small lift.
