Expert review of Hôtel du Danemark
This 15-room hotel has a true Parisian feel and although rooms can be a little cramped, it stands out for the attention to comfort and the welcoming helpful staff.
In the pleasant residential district between Montparnasse and the Jardins du Luxembourg. Plenty of cinemas and brasseries nearby, good children's clothes and chocolate shops on the street.
There's a different colour scheme on each floor and the landings outside the tiny lift are minuscule but once inside, the bedrooms are attractive with good firm mattresses, smart new curtains and attractive desks. Even if they are slightly noisier, I definitely prefer the cheaper "standard" streetside rooms, with velvet bedheads, exposed stone and view of Henri Sauvage's metro tile building to the "deluxe" rooms, which overlook a courtyard. A few rooms have jacuzzi baths.
Colourful and slightly boho, with sofas, fresh flowers and oil paintings that hark back to Montparnasse's artistic past.
Continental breakfast served in a vaulted stone cellar.
Helpful friendly staff, happy to advise; most speak good English.
French and international.
Breakfast costs 11 euros.
