A romantic boutique hotel steps from the Arc de Triomphe.
This is just the sort of pleasant surprise you come across in Paris. In an area that you would expect to be full of bland business hotels, you suddenly come across a tranquil residential street where this long, low Napoléon III villa sits at the top of a small flight of steps. The building has real charm. In 2008 it was totally redecorated by Michel Jouannet, whose credentials include the Hotel Cipriani in Venice, and they installed a lift yet it remains good value for the district.
Location:
It's on a quiet residential street yet seconds from the Arc de Triomphe. There's plenty of designer shopping with avenue Victor Hugo at the foot of the stairs and the glitz of the Champs-Elysées nearby but also good places to eat in surrounding streets.
Bedrooms:
39 tasteful rooms where sophisticated swirly Pierre Frey fabrics and soothing colours are enlivened by Gotof's colourful abstract oil paintings over the bed. It's classic yet contemporary, with attractive wooden desks and some pretty mansarded rooms on the second floor. Standard rooms just have a shower, superior rooms have a bath. All are non-smoking, and there's a useful courtesy tray.

The front door opens directly into a long, cheerful drawing room with the reception desk and Neo-Louis XV chairs, wicker bergères, fresh flowers, modern paintings and outsize porcelain vases.
