Expert review of MAve Hotel
Whether in town for business or pleasure, The MAve Hotel is a nice alternative to larger and more glitzy hotels in the area. The rooms are sweet and comfortable and the price can't be beat. Its location makes it an easy base from which to head east or west, uptown or downtown.
The hotel is just steps away from the iconic Flatiron building and near Madison Square Park, which is a popular dining haunt because of Danny Meyer's Shake Shack.
The 72 rooms are modern and lofty, with nearly 10-foot ceilings. Rooms feature traditional and innovative design flourishes. Bamboo floors mix seamlessly with mahogany furniture. Red headboards draw the eye as does the artwork featuring cityscapes and urban scenes. Belgian linens and hypoallergenic pillows allow for a comfortable night sleep. Bathrooms are fairly spacious for the small room size and feature Duravit faucets, bamboo tile walls and H2O products.
The lobby is lofty, like the rooms, and has glass panels, a red wall and chrome and crystal chandeliers. A staircase takes guest to another level.
The hotel doesn't have a restaurant but the Belgian bistro next door is often utilized by visitors. Neighborhood restaurant Park Avenue Bistro is available for room service. Guests also enjoy complimentary pastries and coffee each morning in the lobby.
A tiny fitness center is available.
Service is friendly if a bit rushed at times.
Couples, singles, pet lovers.
The hotel has many last-minute deals and Sundays are always the best day to book for the drastically reduced rates.
