When you want to party on South Beach instead of sleep, here’s the place to be.
If you’ve ever walked along Ocean Drive and wondered where the loud, pumping music and screams of people having fun are coming from, chances are it will be The Clevelander. It’s a full on, adults-only party hotel with bars aplenty, and music and entertainment until 5am on many nights.
Location:
On the junction of Ocean Drive and 10th Street, the hotel occupies a huge corner plot overlooking Lummus Park and the Atlantic Ocean, with easy walking to the bars, restaurants and shops of Collins and Washington Avenues behind it and the Lincoln Road mall to the north.
Bedrooms:
These aren’t huge, like almost all of the preserved hotel buildings packed along Ocean Drive, but at a place like this, how long are you planning to spend in your room anyway? Rooms are clean, attractively decorated in whites and beiges with water-themed artwork, and the most useful amenity in each room, alongside the iPod docks and flat-screen TVs, is probably the earplugs. Rooms at the rear are quieter but don’t have the view.

Public areas:
Busy and bustling, the expansive street-level pool deck is the hotel’s big draw for eating, drinking, partying and people watching. The modern and extremely funky lobby, with bright yellow and orange furniture, extends out to the pavement restaurant. And you SHALL have music wherever you go, whether you like it or not.
Eating and drinking:
The pool deck has four bars alone, including a popular yoghurt bar and the Game On sports bar with 13 giant high-definition flat-screen TVs. The Sidewalk Café offers the usual array of seafood, steaks and burgers and is popular.
Leisure facilities:
This is not a hotel for chilling in the tranquility of a spa. The best workout you’ll get is dancing to the city’s hottest DJs or live bands in the 1020 lounge/nightclub. But you can relax on the SPF4 Sun Deck and enjoy the waterfall from a sun lounger on the C-Level rooftop terrace with its excellent ocean views.
Service:
Staff wear tee-shirts bearing the words: “On it.” They usually are.
