Expert review of Mercure Madrid Santo Domingo
Opened in June 2010, the Mercure Madrid Santo Domingo is trying to inject a bit of fun into the whole chain hotel concept. It’s very chic and has a rooftop pool, so can hardly fail to become one of the city’s most coveted and fashionable hotels pretty soon.
Just off the Gran Vía, it is close to the shops on Calle Preciados and an easy walk to the trendy areas of Malasaña and Chueca. Right by Santo Domingo metro station.
There are 79 rooms and one suite, but everyone is after one of the themed rooms, of which there are 12 so far. As well as jungle, themes include aquarium, beach, siesta, China, Hitchcock’s The Birds and Paul Auster, with New York décor of course. WiFi is available in rooms.
