A 2005-refurbished, family-friendly hotel just inland from Pissouri beach
The Columbia Beachotel shares an otherwise unbuilt-up-beach with its little sister, the Columbia Beach Resort. The two also share most of their pubic areas: the difference is that the Beachotel has a different inner look and ambience.
Location:
On Pissouri Bay, about 30km west of Limassol, and 32km east of Paphos. The nearest airport is Paphos, just under 17km west of Pissouri Bay. The Columbia complex (comprising the Columbia Beachotel and the adjacent Columbia Beach Resort) dominates the bay.
Bedrooms:
For families with toddlers, garden suites and studios (40 square metres) located around the pool area have been designed with smaller children in mind. For couples who want to splash out, four Cape Suites have double balconies with views across the lush gardens and out to the headland of Cape Aspro and the sea – one of the last unspoilt views left in Cyprus. Bbathrooms and garden-level floors are all marble (which is lovely and cool, but slippy with wet feet – watch your step). Every room has a balcony, comfortably big enough for two people to breakfast or dine.

Public areas:
While the Beachotel’s sibling, the Columbia Beach Resort, goes for a Mediterranean-village ambience, the Beachotel reaches for a nautical, cruise-ship theme in its public areas and rooms – lots of wood veneer, louvred shutters, parquet floors and polished brass. The two properties share landscaped, immaculate grounds and a spa, but have separate outdoor pools.
Eating and drinking:
The Seven Cs Bar is the Beachotel’s lobby piano bar, with indoor and outdoor seating. The Cape Aspro Bar and Restaurant serves lunch and dinner (May-October) beside the pool and is a nice spot for sunset drinks.
Leisure facilities:
Indoor and outdoor pools. The Columbia Spa has a gym, aerobics area, sauna and Jacuzzi. Tennis and squash courts, gym, watersports on the beach and three championship golf courses within 15- 20 minutes drive. Sailors Kids Club entertains 3-12 year olds.
Service:
Professional and attentive.

Mainly grown-up couples and families.
Price advice:
Some excellent deals available in winter (mid-November to mid-March) when a standard room costs 148 euros and a Cape Suite costs 300 euros. Rates almost double in high season. Look out for an array of special package deals, too, offering spa treatments, golf, half board and full board.
