Expert review of The Hideaway Club
This is one of the north’s more popular inland accommodation complexes, and deservedly so; the returned London-Cypriot owners and their well-trained staff have a knack for knowing – nay, anticipating – what their guests want.
Just east of Edremit village access road, 7km out of Kyrenia
31 units, in 10 clusters, are divided into several grades from “Club Room” to “VIP Suite”, but all have throw-rugs, complimentary bathrobes, hammocks and wrought-iron beds. Superior units have separate sitting room with fireplace, sea views and CD players. Many rooms interconnect; some have full bathtubs as opposed to showers.

Limited to the pool terrace, bar and restaurant, which all merge together, though there is also seating for dining on the roof terrace. WiFi access.
There’s a set English or continental breakfast, not a buffet – served to your balcony on request. The three-course set, or a la carte, supper menus are a bit limited in choice. But management doesn’t get huffy if you decline to eat here – indeed they run a semi-formal recommendation scheme for surrounding establishments. Bar prices are on the high side for the class of accommodation, though complimentary glasses of lemonade at poolside are also a fact of life here.
Confined to the largeish centrepiece pool – regrettably back on a chlorine regimen after alternative purification methods failed – and a book-swop facility. Two nights a week, live entertainment is laid on.
Excellent, from long-serving, multi-national (English/Pakistani/Russian) staff; email enquiries answered amazingly promptly for Cyprus. Car hire (a near-necessity) can be arranged at competitive rates, as can airport transfers; “picnic breakfast” provided for early departures from Ercan airport.

Largely repeat clientele – thus very much a clubby atmosphere – of slightly older Brits and resident expats from the south of the island. No children under 12 accepted.
Rates (from £42–99 according to unit standard) vary little across the year (closed 6 weeks Jan–Feb). It’s not much of a leap up from the most basic Club Room to the first grade of suite. Advantageous weekly rates on request.
