Expert review of Hotel Korsal
Small family-run hotel by the sea, opened in summer 2010, just outside Korcula old town.
In a modern building close to Korcula’s medieval town walls, this welcoming mid-range hotel opened in July 2010. All ten rooms are newly and tastefully decorated, and have sea views, and it’s on a pedestrian-only street on the coast so there’s no traffic noise. There’s a small ground floor restaurant with a seafront terrace where breakfast is served.
Location:
Overlooking the sea, just a five-minute walk from Korcula old town and the ferry quay.
Bedrooms:
There are double rooms and family rooms (two interconnected rooms), all with hardwood floors, mini-bar, flat-screen satellite TV, free internet, air conditioning, and bathrooms with underfloor heating and Jacuzzi shower. What I like best are the colours – duvets, sheets and curtains in cheerful greens, yellows and oranges, plus fluffy cream flokati rugs.

Public areas:
The ground floor restaurant has a sunny dining room decorated in greens and yellows, and a lovely sea-view terrace with outdoor tables.
Eating and drinking:
They do a tasty cooked-to-order breakfast here, with bacon and eggs. In the evening, the hotel restaurant serves typical Dalmatian dishes a la carte – fresh seasonal salads, meat and seafood specialities, and yummy homemade rosata (creme caramel).
Leisure facilities:
None, but there’s a small pebble beach out front, perfect for a morning dip before breakfast. If you ask at reception, they can help you arrange local sports activities such as wind surfing and scuba diving.
Service:
Being a small hotel with just 10 rooms, Hotel Korsal is able to offer its guests truly personalised service. Expect welcoming and accommodating staff and excellent waiter service.
