Renovated Ottoman mansion with well-appointed rooms done up in period style.
The owners of the Hotel Darussaade have clearly capitalized on, rather than chaffed at, the restrictions on renovating a historically protected building, recreating what I imagine to be the luxurious, romantic air of a 19th century Ottoman mansion in its 22 rooms.
Location:
On the quiet end of a lively back street behind the Blue Mosque, the Darussaade is well-located for sightseeing excursions in Sultanahmet and beyond.
Bedrooms:
Each of the individually designed rooms is done up in a different colour palette, with the décor of deluxe rooms ranging from a brass-framed bed under the golden light of a chandelier to smooth dark-wood furniture and subtle light fixtures. The LCD TVs add a modern luxury to all the traditional ones. Try to get room 303 on the top floor if you want a view.
