Expert review of Hotel Lipa
With a population of just 1,500, Postira is a friendly fishing village, made up of old stone cottages with terracotta tile roofs, built around a bay on Brac’s north coast. Hotel Lipa, opened in June 2009, makes a fine base here, with just 28 rooms and suites, an outdoor pool and a small wellness centre.
Overlooking the bay in Postira, the hotel is 10km east of the ferry port of Supetar and a one-hour bus ride from Bol.
I like the slightly daring colour schemes here – mauve carpets, indigo curtains, and splashes of heather pink added by the cushions. All the rooms (double and triple) have a sea-view balcony with a table and two chairs so you can sit out, and the eight suites also have a living room with a fold-out bed, making them ideal for families with kids.
The hotel restaurant has a lovely stone terrace for open-air dining with views over Postira bay.
The Lipa’s generous buffet breakfast makes a fine way to start the day. Buffet dinner (many guests are on half-board) is served in the dining room, while a la carte dinner, with a good choice of tasty Dalmatian meat and seafood specialities, is served outside on the terrace.
There’s a narrow pebble beach across the road immediately in front of the hotel, ideal for a morning swim. Hotel Lipa also has an outdoor pool and a small wellness centre offering sauna, Jacuzzi and massage, and also arranges excursions to nearby Lovrečina, a lovely sandy bay with shallow water, ideal for kids.
Professional, friendly and attentive staff, both at reception and in the restaurant.
Mainly European couples and families in search of a peaceful seaside holiday.
