Expert review of Residencia Casa Munich
Top-secret Ibiza hideaway, perfect for big groups or families.
Casa Munich has been one of the island’s best-kept secrets for more than 20 years and I’m almost hesitant to spill the beans… but it’s just such a great find I want to share it. A miniature village made up of rustic chic bungalows that’s just minutes from the famous Las Salinas, perfect for groups of friends or families who want to stay together, but have their own space.
Location:
Casa Munich is well hidden and not signposted, I would never have found it without expert guidance. Once you find it, it’s like an oasis in the centre of everything: the famous salt flats directly opposite, Salinas to your left and Playa D’en Bossa and Ibiza town to your right – yet such a peaceful respite from the action.
Bedrooms:
Each apartment is slightly different in décor, an intentional touch by owner Mucki Braun. The complex reminds me of a small village, comprised of smaller replicas of traditional Ibiza villas – stone walls, rustic wooden celiings, white-washed exteriors, colourful vines draping from the upper balconies. Ask for an apartment with sunset views over the salt flats – it never gets boring to watch.

Public areas:
The pool, bar and chillout areas had a revamp earlier this year, bringing Casa Munich right into the now with super cool coloured LED lighting, WiFi, modern (and comfy) sun loungers and a sleek bar. It was kitsch before, but I love the added cool factor that’s come with the revamp.
Eating and drinking:
Breakfast is served daily but apart from that, your own personal kitchen will have to suffice (I highly recommend the deli-style supermarket on the main road). The new bar has a round-the-clock “serve yourself” honesty policy – nice!
Leisure facilities:
There’s a tennis court for the sporty types, but for me, moving from my sun lounger into the pool is about all the action I need. There’s also a cute little spa hut, where massages, beauty treatments, a Jacuzzi and sauna provide even more relaxation. My idea of bliss after the beach.
Service:
Warm and friendly. The caring family vibe shines through, and the staff truly want you to have the best holiday ever.

Who stays there:
Those lucky enough to be in the know; many families, including quite a few German acquaintances of (owners) the Braun family; and large wedding groups.
Price advice:
Like most places in Ibiza, low season rates are the most affordable but with multiple people staying in each apartment, it works out to be very good value for money.
