Live like a royal in this historic boutique hotel that boasts breathtaking views.
History buffs will love this (almost) hidden gem of a boutique hotel, perched right at the top of Ibiza’s UNESCO World Heritage Listed Site, the fortified ancient walled city of Dalt Vila. The hotel offers truly spectacular views and world-class service. If this is how the medieval kings and queens lived, I like their style!
Location:
Are you ready for a little bit of walking? La Torre del Canonigo is right at the very top of Dalt Vila, beside the beautiful cathedral. It’s actually only a short walk from the heart of town, but a very steep one and very few cars have access – I found myself ditching high heels for flip flops after just one night. But the breathtaking views more than make up for any muscular aches and pains.
Bedrooms:
Canopy beds with flowing white drapes and elaborate cast iron bed heads add to the drama of this beautifully-restored place. I love the little posh details, like Ralph Lauren towels and Hermes products in the bathrooms – they made imagining myself as a medieval princess hardly a stretch of the imagination! Be sure to ask for a room with a view though – there are a few without, and it hardly seems worth the walk (or price) if you don’t get to make the most of the vista.

Public areas:
The reception area retains an air of medieval pomp and ceremony, with cherubs on the stone walls and high, arched ceilings, all of which look even more dramatic when lit by softly flickering candlelight at night. I love the communal roof terrace, where you can survey your kingdom stretched out before you, it's stunning at sunset.
Eating and drinking:
There’s no restaurant in the hotel, however a basic breakfast is served between 8am and 2pm. Snacks and drinks are available with 24-hour room service.
Leisure facilities:
The hotel’s exceptional concierge service can arrange anything and everything you need, whether it’s a boat trip, restaurant booking, chauffeur driven tour or club tickets.
Service:
Very professional and ultra friendly. Due to the hotel’s small size, the staff will always remember your name, a nice touch in my book.
