Best for The Beach - Expert review of Hotel Garbi Ibiza & Spa
Recently revamped four-star hotel at the heart of one of Ibiza's coolest beach scenes.
Hotel Garbi is what I like to think of as the Vegas showgirl of Ibiza hotels. It’s colourful, vibrant and just a little bit cheap – in a good way! The huge hotel complex has been given a fabulous facelift to cater to the younger tourist crowd that now flock to Bossa, but it’s a great family option too due to its size and proximity to the beach.
Location:
Smack bang in the centre of the buzzing, vibrant Playa D’en Bossa. The main entry is on the main drag, surrounded by a plethora of over-priced and tacky tourist joints but once you’re in, there’s no looking back, as the beautiful beach is on the other side, just a short walk from the cool beach bar scene and Space.
Bedrooms:
Not quite as vibrant as the rest of the hotel, the rooms are comfortable, relatively big, super clean and have WiFi, which is always an essential for me. Almost all of the 298 rooms boast a sea view and I’ll never get tired of the picture perfect view from the (small-ish) balcony.

Public areas:
Spacious and in keeping with the hotel’s fluorescent exterior and lobby, very colourful, plus there’s WiFi in the lounge areas. I don’t see the point in being indoors however, when there’s a gorgeous terrace by the sea at the hotel’s rear.
Eating and drinking:
Buffet style meals are the order of the day and food is constantly coming in and out of the kitchen, which to me, equals freshness. There’s pretty much something to suit every tastebud and outside there’s a modern café serving snacks and tapas all day long.
Leisure facilities:
The Garbi has it all – swimming pool by the sea, kiddy pool, spa, tennis court and even its own built in nightclub called Martina… which is pretty impressive by my (high!) standards, though the summer parties tend to pale in comparison to the super clubs. Winter, on the other hand, rocks!
Service:
Efficient but impersonal. The staff seem like they’re just there to “do a job” – but at least they get it done.

Young British families, clubbing enthusiasts and couples on a budget.
Price advice:
Be prepared to pay extra for things like the room safe, at a whopping 4 euros per day. You can also opt to go half board for your meals, very practical for those like me who tend to sleep through breakfast.
