Expert review of The Morgan
Bold colours and quirky accessories give this lively Temple Bar hub a youthful twist.
My first experience of the Morgan Hotel was its cocktail bar on the ground floor, popular with locals, so it's quite the rockin’ late night music venue at weekends. Based on this, I would've said this is a partygoer's hotel, but simple styling with lots of stark white and antique touches give the bedrooms a romantic edge. This is a good choice for young couples in the mood for a social weekend.

Bang in the centre of Temple Bar at the heart of Dublin’s tourist nightlife.
Bedrooms:
Stylish beds and minimalist design with chic touches such as a chaise longue give bedrooms a soft edge. Free WiFi and the hotel’s own music CD in rooms is original. The penthouse has its own ‘caravan’ on the rooftop terrace for outdoor partying if it rains, and an attractive feature is a standalone bath tub in the centre of the room. Two suites also boast this feature, nicknamed the ‘love rooms’ for this reason.

Public areas:
A mish-mash of contemporary design: think zebra prints, purple velvet curtains, flowers, red leather seats, large gold-framed mirrors and metal candlesticks – not everyone’s choice, but it works in a somewhat chaotic way to give the place a party feel, even during sober daylight hours. At night, the design looks less OTT and blends into the crowd to create a clubby vibe. The leafy courtyard at the back is a fresh outdoor area for smokers, with a bed thrown in, and why not? A tired looking male fell onto the bed the last time I visited, pint of Guinness in hand, as if he’d just arrived home after a long day at work.
Eating and drinking:
A popular bar, café style, during the day, with late night openings hours at weekends, means a decent selection of food and drink is on hand throughout the day – cocktails are always an option. Tapas and light snacks are served until 10pm for less than 10 euros plus mains for less than 15 euros.
Leisure facilities:
There are no leisure facilities but guests can enjoy a discount with local gym Crunch Fitness Premier where it's €12.50 for a day pass.

Service with a smile, if staff members have the time...

Price advice:
July, August and September are busy months so advance booking is required. Couples should spend the extra on one of the 'love room' suites. Parking is extra and costs 15 euros for 24 hours.
