Expert review of Park Hyatt Dubai
Dubai's own tranquil Mediterranean-style oasis of creekside calm.
It may be on the ‘other’ side of the creek, but this is one of my favourite hotels in Dubai, a relaxing waterfront resort of Mediterranean-style charm and calm. It’s such a self-contained white-walled maze of chilled bars, restaurants, lush greenery and luxury accommodation that you’ll instantly forget that you’re just a bustling main road away from a huge shopping mall.
Location:
The Park Hyatt sits beside the creek on the Deira side, just over the road from the Deira City Centre Mall. This doesn’t make it ideally located if you’re after a beach holiday (a taxi will take around 20 minutes to the nearest public patch of sand), but it has enough facilities for sunbathing and relaxation. The airport is only about five minutes drive away.
Bedrooms:
Moorish and Mediterranean designs flow throughout the rooms, as does the welcome breeze from the marina-facing patios that come as standard. The spacious bathrooms feature a splendid separate tub for a Cadbury’s Flake experience.

Public areas:
The Park Hyatt is spread over a sizeable area, with various different public areas and lounges scattered around, and each connected by a picturesque walkway or breezy corridor. By night, the outdoor space by the creek and marina is lit up with candles.
Eating and drinking:
The Park Hyatt’s restaurants have become extremely popular spots for Dubai-ites and are well worth a visit even if you’re not staying here. The striking French-style Traiteur and the Thai Kitchen closer to the water both have excellent Friday brunches (the Thai Kitchen offers a great price for what you get). Then there’s The Terrace for a romantic moonlit drink overlooking the water. There are often offers in the restaurants if you’re staying at the hotel.
Leisure facilities:
There’s a charming 25-metre pool in the centre of the complex, surrounded by palm trees and sat alongside a spa that features eight rooms, each with private garden. There’s also a 24-hour gym. Just next door to the hotel is the PGA-sanctioned Emirates Golf Club.
Service:
Very warm and attentive.

Who stays there:
While it may not get the beach crowds, the Park Hyatt is still popular with holidaymakers. Its proximity to the airport means there’s also a business clientele, plus Dubai residents looking for a weekend break away from the bustle of the city.
Price advice:
The best rates for a Park King Room can be found between 1 July and 16 September. Rates include a buffet breakfast.
