Expert review of Hotel Les Rotes
Live life in the grand manner at this luscious hotel on the outskirts of Denia.
It’s always good to have your choice of hotel confirmed by a friend, and Giovanna was delighted with her long-weekend at Les Rotes with her partner Valerio. Arriving on a motorbike in torrential rain, the considerate staff immediately up-graded their room and did everything they could to make up for their sodden ride from Valencia. She praised the food, the ambience, the facilities and the staff. Perhaps I should have let her write this review. Once a Parador, the hotel reverted to private ownership a few years ago, and has the comfortable feeling of being more a grand, elegant house than a hotel.
Location:
The hotel is a ten-minute drive from the centre of Denia, in an area which is primarily private houses. It is a short walk to a rocky beach and the promenade that stretches as far as the marina at Denia.
Bedrooms:
Plushly elegant with glowing parquet floors, some of the rooms have views over the swimming pool and gardens, with glimpses of the sparkling blue Mediterranean through the trees. The suite and two junior suites have Jacuzzi baths and a settee that folds out to make a comfortable double bed. The bathrooms are spacious and well-equipped. A complimentary bottle of Les Rotes wine awaits your arrival. The garden suites have a private terrace and the linked bedrooms are perfect for a family seeking privacy while still being able to use all the facilities. There is a bedroom with access for disabled people.

Public areas:
The swimming pool is the centre of summer life, with double cane beds on the wooden decking for those who want to snuggle up despite sweating in the noon-day sun. A small but well equipped gym and a sauna are free for the use of guests. There is a large bar/lounge with comfortable sofas, and a small library with internet connection.
Eating and drinking:
The Punta Negra restaurant specialises in regional cuisine using local ingredients, with fish coming directly from the quay at Denia. It offers a la carte and a menu del dia. During summer months breakfast, lunch and dinner can be taken by the swimming pool or on the arcaded terrace.
Leisure facilities:
Swimming pool, gymnasium, sauna, relaxing in the gardens, bike and quad hire, a five-minute stroll to the beach at Les Rotes or a longer one into Denia.
Service:
Staff are friendly and professional without being effusive. There has been the odd complaint that the level of service drops if there is a function on, but otherwise highly complimented.

Everyone from businessmen on a decent expense account and couples looking for romance (without too much quiet) to families who want to relax, knowing the kids are safe and sound.
