With its central location and excellent facilities, this hotel ticks many boxes.
I grew up in Cape Town's southern suburbs, where the Vineyard Hotel & Spa is situated, and have seen its remarkable transformation over the years. As a schoolgirl I would often come here on a Saturday morning for tea and custard slices before hitting nearby Cavendish Square and its glossy stores. Back then the hotel was the converted 200-year-old home of a famed Victorian socialite Lady Anne Barnard. Though the original manor house with its many artefacts is still the central feature of the hotel, striking additions such as a new bedroom wing and swish eateries and facilities have taken it straight into the 21st century. It's no wonder then that it's a hub for business travellers and high flyers who know they need not worry about anything for the duration of their stay.
Location:
Centrally situated in the heart of the southern suburbs, close to sporting and shopping facilities, fifteen minutes from the city and twenty from the airport.
Bedrooms:
The bedrooms are a happy marriage of classic-contemporary comfort with thoughtful details like the softest mohair blankets and quirky touches of personality too. Our garden suite was a light and bright space with Zen-inspired sliding screens offering privacy between lounge and bedroom - the views of the mountain were glorious. The bathroom, while certainly luxurious, lacked a glam factor.

Browse the cabinets of historical artefacts relating to the hotel in the quarry tile-lined reception area or take a walk in the sprawling six acre gardens. The intimate lounge is a popular all-day meeting and greeting spot while the sun-splashed terrace sees guests tapping away on their laptops.

Square is a swish sushi bar and cosmopolitan restaurant situated in the heart of the main building while Myoga is a flamboyant space serving up fusion fare.
