Expert review of Hotel Central Basilica
Few frills, but a fantastic location in the shadow of Budapest's Basilica.
The Central Basilica is a lovely, smart little three-star. The building has a classical façade – it dates to the 1840s – and as long as you’re not after bucket loads of facilities I reckon this hotel is an excellent choice.
Location:
A prime location within spitting distance of Budapest’s cathedral. The road outside is pedestrianised, so it’s quiet too.
Bedrooms:
This is a diminutive hotel, with just 44 rooms and three apartments. They’re well-equipped for the category – TV, mini bar, telephone, hairdryer and even internet access – and the blue and cream colours are very pleasant.

Public areas:
The main feature of the small lobby is a large mural showing a sketch of the Basilica. The breakfast room is sparse but inoffensive.
Leisure facilities:
The hotel has no leisure facilities of its own, but it offers discounted tickets to use a nearby gym.
Service:
The receptionist was polite during my visit.
