A haven of calm in a quiet corner of Kemptown, just off the seafront.
A careful choice of soft, natural colours and fabrics have turned this modest but elegant Regency townhouse into a delightfully soothing seaside retreat that would be a perfect getaway pad for couples. I love how much care and attention to detail owners Sean and Kathryn have devoted to creating this relaxing place.
Location:
Step out of The White House’s pretty front courtyard garden and within a few paces you can be on the Kemptown seafront with its wonderful, elevated views of the sea and sky. This offbeat district is also a fantastic hunting ground for vintage furniture and oddments.
Bedrooms:
All 10 rooms have a warm, easy elegance, with simple but stylish furniture and stencil effect wallpaper in soft shades of lavender, sage, hazelnut and cream. The overall atmosphere is peaceful and romantic. All rooms are stocked with thoughtful extras such as fair trade tea and coffee and quality toiletries, and there’s free WiFi throughout.

Breakfast at The White House is superb – this is one of the few guest houses in Brighton and Hove to have won both the Sussex Breakfast Award and the AA Egg Cup Award for its creative use of top quality, locally sourced produce, most of which is free range or organic. On sunny days, you can enjoy your kippers or eggs and bacon al fresco.
