Expert review of Radisson Blu Hotel
The Radisson Blu is probably best known for its famed aquarium. While I'd recommend you consider a visit for this innovative and fun feature, its presence shouldn't detract from the hotel's appeal as a comfortable, well-located accommodation option.
The hotel sits literally on the banks of the River Spree in the central Mitte district, on the other side of the water from the Berlin Cathedral.
The 427 rooms are generally spacious, modern and uncluttered. Some have balconies and all offer views of the river, the city or the hotel’s giant aquarium. They all come with mod cons such as TVs, phones, desks etc.

Design in the public areas nods towards the futuristic, with sleek, sophisticated lines. The 25-metre Aqua Dom in the hotel lobby is home to more than 1,500 tropical fish. Riding the internal lift, which goes through the cylindrical aquarium (but does not belong to the hotel), is a highlight. If this gets you in the mood for even more sea creatures, the adjacent SeaLife Berlin offers Radisson Blu guests discounted admission.
Modern International fusion restaurant HEat serves a breakfast buffet, as well as a la carte lunch and dinner. The restaurant has an exhibition kitchen where you can watch the diligent chefs at work, and serves a great selection of beers and an excellent crème brulee. In warm weather you can dine out on the gorgeous terrace. The lounge bar offers a good selection of snacks and drinks, but feels somewhat crowded given its location underneath the AquaDom and in the middle of the main foyer.
The wellness centre has a well-equipped fitness centre, small swimming pool, Finnish and bio saunas, aromatherapy and steam room. Holistic and beauty services are also offered.
Cool, sometimes to the point of aloofness.
