Expert review of Melia Berlin
The Melia chain's Berlin establishment might not set the world alight, but it does offer a good location and decent amenities.
The hotel’s 364 bedrooms offer views of the river, city landmarks such as the Reichstag, Berliner Dom, Rathaus and TV Tower, or the inner courtyard. Rooms are on the small side and not overly imaginative, but they're comfortable and functional enough with flat-screen televisions and minibars etc. Wireless internet access costs extra.
Business facilities include a fully-equipped conference and event space with seven meeting rooms and a ballroom for up to 650 people.
The rooftop restaurant offers breakfast, theatre and business lunch menus, while the tapas bar off the lobby serves lighter dishes. Breakfast is expensive at 22 euros, but there are plenty of cafes in the area. If you're staying on the Level Lounge, breakfast and evening drinks is included.
Leisure facilities include a decent top floor 140-square metre fitness area, sauna and solarium.
Friendly and very efficient. Staff give sound tourist advice.
The hotel is a chain and well suited to the business traveller, but it's great location makes it an option for vsiiting families and couples too.
If you book far enough in advance, you can get a room on the Level Lounge for the same price as a standard room.
