Fall asleep to the sounds of crashing waves and wake to views of the sparkling Mediterranean.
This gorgeous boutique hotel is picture perfect, enormously stylish and absolutely shimmering in elegance. I loved the feeling of almost hanging over the sea that you get from the all the rooms, and the view from the roof-top relaxing pool as I sipped a cold drink. A place to let yourself sample a touch of decadence.
Location:
Sat between the Plaza de San Jaime and the Mirador, Villa Venecia has unobstructed views over the sea and the Isla de Benidorm, and the beaches, with the mountains beyond.
Bedrooms:
It’s a curious sensation to take a shower while looking through a plate glass wall out to sea, which is effectively what you can do in most of the bedrooms, although there’s a luxurious bed between you and the water. Warm woods and parquet floors, soft shades of paintwork and rich textured fabrics are tastefully blended in all of the rooms, which all have double beds. (Although some of the rooms are a bit on the tight side.) If you want the full pop star treatment try the Jacuzzi Jazz Club, a bedroom with the bubbling bath right against the window, so that you feel as if you are suspended over the waves crashing on the rocks below. All the rooms have ultra-large flat-screen TVs and in addition the suites are equipped with wii and playstation. Free WiFi is available throughout the building. All bedrooms have a bath and a hydromassage shower.

Public areas:
Elegant Regency-style sofas and chairs provide small personal sitting areas in the lounge, with beautiful sea views. A terrace leading to the Mirador is a delightful place to take an aperitivo on a summer’s evening.
Eating and drinking:
A continental breakfast is served each morning, which is very good but doesn’t seem to change so can verge on being repetitive. The elegance extends to only serving tea by the cup, when a pot would be much more satisfactory. The Sunday brunch is a favourite of most guests, with a continual parade of tapas-style servings. Chef Gemma Penalva, voted Best Young Chef in the Valencia Community, presides over the restaurant, Llum de Mar (Light of the Sea), which specialises in a regional cuisine using top quality local produce.
Leisure facilities:
A roof-top spa and gym with a large Jacuzzi and a relaxing pool, and a curious system called a ‘pediluvio’ where water sprays over your feet as you walk up and down on stones. During summer months the whole roof is opened up for you to bask in the sun’s rays during the day and enjoy as a chill-out zone in the evening.
