Expert review of Riu Puerto Marina
A refreshingly inexpensive hotel in one of the world's most beautiful marinas.
Would I recommend this hotel to my best friends? Hell, yes! Would I choose to stay here myself? Definitely. For its location and size it wins hands down for me in Benalmadena, but it could do with more a few more facilities. It’s sleek without being cold, and manages to have charm and character you’d usually associate with a boutique, or more iconic, hotel.
Location:
Set in the heart of the award-winning, and frankly beautiful, Puerto Marina harbour, I’ve been on a sun lounger on the beach in under two minutes from leaving my hotel room.
Bedrooms:
Rooms are spotlessly clean and modern, but with fairly basic, unimaginative furniture and average beds, I doubt the interior will blow your mind. The room I stayed in overlooked the pool and was remarkably quiet and flooded by natural light.

Public areas:
The white marble and designer-imitation chairs in the reception area are welcoming, but it does feel a little dark. The bar is becoming increasingly popular for non-guests who go to see the live acts.
Eating and drinking:
The restaurant operates two sittings which means there’s a lack for flexibility. The food is not Michelin standard, but tasty enough. If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, there are restaurants galore in the marina.
Leisure facilities:
The bar next to one of the two pools is probably where you’d find me. There’s an obvious of lack of other facilities though, such as a gym.
Service:
I have always found all the staff, from receptionists to chamber maids, to be incredibly attentive and cheery.

Couples and those wanting to be in middle of the action without a huge price tag.
Price advice:
Bearing in mind you’re in the quite-pricey port, this hotel is exceptionally good value for money.
